The English 223, Migrant Literature, class taught by Dr Urbina is a great learning experience. I personally connected to various pieces of Migrant literature, specifically from the Tibetan Buddhist culture. I learnt about the long struggle of Tibetans for political and religious frredom. I also became familiar with several literary terms and the theories of literary criticism. I also engaged in class discussions, performed my service learning in class and in terms of community service, I participated in the collective midterm exam, and other assignments. Overall, I found the class to be positively challenging, nurturing, and inspiring. I would highly recommend the class to any student who is seeking to broader her or his horizons in terms of inter-cultural awareness.
